you decide. we do the rest.

The process

Five stages.
At every one: you approve, we execute.

This is the same sequence a traditional publishing house runs for its titles — rebuilt around one author: you. Your total time commitment at each stage is measured in decisions, not workdays.

01

Consultation & roadmap

Week 1

We read your manuscript — or listen to the book you intend to write — and come back with an honest assessment: what the book needs, what it doesn't, what it should cost, and how long each stage will take. You get a written roadmap either way, whether or not you continue with us.

You

Share the manuscript or the idea. One conversation.

SJF Ventures LLC

Full read, market context, written roadmap with scope, timeline, and pricing.

02

Editorial

Typically 4–10 weeks

The manuscript moves through the passes agreed in your roadmap — developmental, line, copy — in the correct order, with a defined style sheet so decisions stay consistent to the last page. Between rounds you review changes and revise with clear guidance, never a mystery markup.

You

Review each round. Accept, reject, discuss. The voice stays yours.

SJF Ventures LLC

Every editing pass, the style sheet, the schedule, and the quality bar.

03

Design & production

Typically 3–6 weeks

While editorial finishes, design begins. You see cover directions built from your book's genre and positioning — not templates — and choose the one that fits. The interior is typeset for print and ebook, proofed on real pages, and packaged into files retailers accept without complaint.

You

Pick a cover direction. Approve the proof.

SJF Ventures LLC

Cover, typesetting, file production, print proofs, retailer specs.

04

Publication setup

Typically 2–3 weeks

ISBNs registered, metadata and categories written for discoverability, pricing set by format and market, and your title loaded across print-on-demand and ebook platforms — in accounts created in your name, documented, and handed to you with the keys.

You

Approve the pricing and the publication date.

SJF Ventures LLC

ISBN, metadata, categories, platform setup, and the documentation.

05

Launch & growth

Launch month & beyond

Your author website goes live, advance copies reach early readers, review outreach begins, and the campaign runs to a dated plan built backwards from publication day. After launch, the book keeps working: promotions, price strategy, and planning for the next title.

You

Show up as the author — interviews, posts, signings. We prep everything.

SJF Ventures LLC

Website, campaign, assets, outreach, reporting, and the long tail.

Throughout

Three constants,
every stage, every book

You own everything

Rights, royalties, accounts, and files are yours — set up in your name and handed over documented. SJF Ventures LLC works for you, never the other way around.

Nothing ships unapproved

Every stage ends with your sign-off. You'll never discover a decision about your book after the fact.

One point of contact

No juggling an editor, a designer, a formatter, and a marketer who've never spoken. One team, one thread, one plan.

Stage zero

It starts with a conversation
and a written roadmap

Tell us where your book stands. You'll get an honest plan for getting it to market — yours to keep, whoever you build it with.
